There are so many beautiful parks in Dudley to go and see. I may blog about others in future, For now though I’ve found Leasowes is perfect for wildlife photography as it has an abundance of natural beauty and is home to a wide variety of wildlife from foxes, rabbits & badgers to herons, kingfishers and the common robin. Whether it’s just to photograph or a scenic place for a dog walk Leasowes park & woods are the perfect place to go and visit. The mixed landscape with open grasslands, wooded valleys, lakes and streams make the site a perfect habitat for an array of wildlife. The park continues to be managed with nature in mind and is always looking for new volunteers.
Leasowes park was designed by a poet named William Shenstone one of the earliest practitioners of landscape gardening. It was an important and influential landscape of the 18th Century, and it’s thought to be one of the first natural landscape gardens in England. Leasowes is still seen as a park of historic significance, ranking in importance with such landscapes as Blenheim and Stowe.
Below are a few of the images I’ve taken over the last few weeks. Let me know which one is your favourite in the comments on Facebook or Instagram

Bird photography can be very challenging it requires a fair understanding of the mechanics of your camera the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture as well as a strong understanding of the bird you’re trying to capture in frame. Research where to find it, if it’s nocturnal or diurnal even where or what it eats can be extremely useful when searching for something specific.
There’s so many blogs, websites, articles and “gurus” you can find everywhere on the Internet that covers everything from “bird photography tips” and “the experts’ guide to natural bird photography ” I’ve even seen “composition of bird photography”, but most that I’ve personally come across don’t share enough detail.
The images on this page have all been taken on a Nikon D3400 equipped with a Tamron 150-600 g2 lense. Widely considered as the entry-level range from Nikon but has quick autofocus and features the APS-C 1.5x crop factor similar to the Nikon D500 (a more common choice) gives the equivalent field of view as a 900mm lens useful when trying to catch small and flighty birds. I also use auto ISO set at a max 6400 but shutter and aperture I set manually depending on the shot.
